Coach Roden is a seasoned football coach with 24 years of experience, recognized for his leadership and achievements at both high school and collegiate levels. His coaching career is highlighted by his tenure at East Central High School, where he led the team to a 4A state championship in 2017, secured three regional championships, a state runner-up finish, and claimed five Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference (EIAC) championships. His outstanding leadership earned him the Indiana Football Coaches Association 4A Coach of the Year award in 2017, along with five EIAC Coach of the Year titles. Coach Roden began his coaching career as a defensive coordinator for the Highlanders from 2006 to 2008, later becoming the head coach at Noblesville High School and East Central High School in Indiana. His coaching prowess extended to Colerain High School, where he served as a defensive backs coach for five years, contributing to the 2004 state championship season. He also held the position of associate head coach at Mount Healthy High School and was the special teams coordinator for the College of Mount St. Joseph. During his seven years at East Central, Coach Roden guided the team to 35 victories and three consecutive regional championships, milestones that marked the school's history. His experience spans a range of school sizes and competitive levels, reflecting his adaptability and expertise. Now in his fifth year as head coach of the Highlanders, he was named the 2022 GMC Coach of the Year, leading Oak Hills to nine GMC wins and consecutive 5-5 regular-season records over the last two seasons. A 1995 graduate of Colerain High School, Coach Roden went on to earn a degree from Mount St. Joseph College in 2000, where he was a four-year letter winner and team captain. He holds a master's degree in Educational Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University and currently serves as the Assistant Dean of Students at Oak Hills High School. Coach Roden has been married to his wife Jennifer for 25 years, and they are proud parents of two children, JT (20) and Hailey (22).
