Harrison Recap Week #5

Posted on: April 15, 2024
Harrison Recap
The weather finally caught up with us this week and caused two of the three meets we had to be canceled.  Both cancellations seemed premature in hidesight, but there's no going back now.  We will just have to take a deep breath, clean our minds of frustration and use this week to do all of our showing off.

The athletes who competed at the JV meet at Elder on Wednesday certainly did their jobs well, though!  The girls came away with the team win and the boys were second.

Athletes of the Week
Varsity
Anna Price- Anna ran a personal best time in the 1600m already this season and is one second away from her personal best in the 800m She spent most of the season last year on JV but is now a solid varsity runner.

Matthew Bertram- Matthew has been having an outstanding year.  He spent a lot of time outside of practice the past 6 months attending pole vaulting clinics.  His improvements in the event since last season have been amazing.  Matthew has jumped 12 feet so far, which is 4 feet ahead of where he was last year.

JV
Olivia Klaserner- Olivia ran a personal best in the 100 hurdles and earned a first place finish in the event at Elder.  She also ran an impressive time in the 300 hurdles to finish second place.

Tion Starr- Tion ran personal bests in the 100m dash and 400m dash at Elder.  He finished 4th and 2nd, respectively.  His time in the 400m was a huge improvement and places him in the top handful of athletes on the team.
