Jimmy John's Players of the Week

Posted on: April 20, 2021
James Schmidt and Avery Gottlieb, 4.19.21 Jimmy John's Players of the Week

Congrats to this week's Jimmy John's Players of the Week!

Avery Gottlieb         Softball              Soph

Avery Gottlieb led the Highlanders to their 10th win last week. Avery went 4-1 over the week. Her only loss came from a 3-2 heartbreaker to West which came down to the 7th inning. She pitched 5 complete games this week (35 innings). She allowed only 7 earned runs, had 47ks, and only 2 walks. She collected her 101st strikeout of the season. Not only was she wheeling on the mound but on offense, she went 10-18 at the plate (.555) collecting 9rbi, a double, and a pair of home runs. Avery “grew up” this past week. After losing freshman year to Covid she’s back in full force paving her way as a true leader on the field. She’s been a big part of the 10-3 start this season for the Highlanders. Congrats on a fantastic week!

James Schmidt           Boys' Track              Sr

James put on quite a show for the crowd at the Harrison Invitational. He ran 4:16.03 in the 1600m, breaking the former Oak Hills school record by over 5 seconds. His time is the second-fastest in Ohio so far this year. James now owns all four of the middle distance and distance records at Oak Hills.
