Richmond Verbals to Louisville

Posted on: April 26, 2019

Few high school players in any sport have the opportunity to commit to a Division 1 college, even fewer get to do it their freshman year of high school. Jameson Richmond made his childhood dream come true on April 17th by verbally committing, as a freshmen, to play baseball at Louisville. Jameson said of the offer, "It's a dream come true. Ever since I got to watch my brother play down there, I fell in love with the school, the campus, and got to know the coaches." Jameson feels as if a huge weight has been lifted off of his shoulders. By committing to his dream school as a freshmen, he feels he can just focus on academics and enjoying the game. Richmond is a multisport athlete, playing both basketball and baseball, and intends on continuing to do so.

Coach Murphy, JV head coach where Jameson started the year before being moved up to varsity, had this to say about Jameson, "The best thing that I can say about Jameson is that everyone can see what kind of player he is on the field and what he can bring to a team, but not many people have the chance to see what kind of player he is when we are off the field.  In the just the few months I had coaching Jameson he has been one of the most respectful players I have ever coached.  He knows he is  special player but he does not let that take away from the fact that he listens to instruction, responds well to criticism and respects his teammates.  Jameson has given me the impression that he wants to get better and learn what it will take to be successful at the next level.  I am very proud and happy for J-Mo and wish him nothing but the best going forward with Oak Hills Baseball and the Louisville Cardinals."
