Softball Back In Full Swing

Posted on: March 30, 2021

The 2021 Oak Hills Softball teams are excited to get back on the field after having last season cancelled.  The Highlanders are once again blessed with numbers as they will field 3 teams this season with 1 varsity and 2 jv teams. Only 2 other GMC schools will have 3 teams this spring.   Head Coach Jackie Cornelius (Bedel) is returning for her 11th season here at Oak Hills.  Ken Hammitt will be the head coach for JV Red and Jim Basil is at the helm for JV Black

This years motto should be the "Fountain of Youth" as the varsity team will consist of 1 senior, 2 juniors, and the rest sophomores and freshman.  Leading the charge will be senior captain Savannah Dance (OF). Juniors Morgan Dornbusch (P) and Lilly Hayes (OF) will also be looking to make an impact.  Sophomores Abby Bode (IN), Nikki Bode (IN), Grace Borton (OF), Sarah Buxsel (IN), Madelyn Erskine (IN), Maeve Fink (IN), Avery Gottlieb (P), Kailee Hebert (OF), and Kylie Lockwood (IN) will all play a huge role this season.  Rounding out the roster is Freshman Julia Abbott (UT) and Gretchen Hansen (OF).

The JV teams are also very young will only 3 Juniors sprinkled amongst the 26 players.  We are also excited about opening a new JV field at Rapid Run Middle school this year as we can now have both varsity and jv teams playing next to each other which is a great asset to the program.
